fide test
fide test
Starting from January 1st 2019, any non-Swiss resident is required to have a valid proof of language if they wish to apply for the Swiss nationality or to renew their residence permit.
The fide test is a certified and recognized proof of language issued by the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration (SEM).
Mastering a desired level of French.
Our unique blended learning method is the fastest way to learn and master French. When you sign up for a Swiss French School course, you can define with your own personal consultant which level you wish to obtain. A personalized solution is offered taking in consideration your availability, current level and the timeframe in which you will reach your objective. Once that has been defined, we guarantee (contractually) that you will reach your objective.
Taking the fide test
Swiss French School is a fide-accredited test center. You can take the test at our centers in Geneva and/or Lausanne to receive your certificate.
The test typically consists of two main components:
- Speaking and understanding: (20 minutes and 20 minutes) This part assesses a candidate's ability to speak and understand French. It often includes a conversation with an examiner, where the candidate discusses various topics, answers questions, and demonstrates their oral communication skills.
- Reading and writing: (15-minute introduction, 60-minute test) This part evaluates the candidate's listening and reading comprehension skills. Candidates are required to listen to spoken passages or read written texts in French and then answer questions or provide responses based on their understanding.
You have the option of taking just one of the tests in French, or both.
