GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Swiss Language Group SA – French Language Courses

1. The contract is personal. It may, however, be permanently transferred to a third party once, upon written request and subject to the prior approval of Swiss Language Group SA. A fixed administrative fee of CHF 150.- will be charged to register the new student.
2. The student may temporarily suspend their contract for personal or professional reasons. A short suspension is possible according to the table below. A longer suspension may be granted upon presentation of a medical certificate, military service call-up order or letter from the employer. In accordance with the law, the medical certificate must be renewed monthly. Each suspension must be requested in writing at least 3 days before its start date and must last for a minimum of one week. Any licence renewal fees (CHF 150.-) incurred during the absence shall be borne by the student. The benefits set out in this clause apply only if the student has no outstanding course payments.

The following suspensions are offered upon presentation of supporting documentation (minimum one week):

In addition to the free suspensions provided for under the contract, the student may request an extended suspension of their contract for a maximum duration of 8 weeks for contracts of 6 months or more:

• Each week of extended suspension is charged at CHF 25.-.
• The request must be submitted in writing no later than 3 days before the start of the suspension.
• Each suspension must last for a minimum of 2 consecutive weeks.
• The student may submit a maximum of 2 suspension requests during the term of the contract. Course payments remain due during the suspension period, in accordance with the agreed payment plan.
• At the end of the suspension period, the contract automatically resumes for the remaining duration. The benefits set out in this clause apply only if the student has no outstanding course payments.

3. A case of force majeure may result in the partial cancellation of the contract (early termination) upon presentation of supporting documentation. The request must be submitted by registered letter, and management reserves the right to review each request and to accept or reject it. Regardless of the payment method, the registration fee and tuition fees corresponding to the period elapsed up to the date on which the request and supporting documentation are received remain payable and will not be refunded. Only the remaining future period may be cancelled under the conditions set out above. For any contract termination, a minimum administrative fee of CHF 250.- will be charged. A medical certificate issued for an indefinite period will not be accepted. This clause does not apply to courses lasting 1, 2 or 3 months.
4. In the event of late payment, Swiss Language Group SA will charge an administrative fee of CHF 30.- for the second reminder and CHF 60.- for the final reminder/formal notice. Once the deadline stated in the final reminder/formal notice has passed, debt recovery proceedings will be initiated. The related costs will be charged to the debtor.
5. Any cancellation or absence from a course must be reported at least 24 hours in advance. Without prior notice, the course will be considered forfeited and cannot be rescheduled. For subscription plans, an absence fee of CHF 50.- will be charged. For private courses, the reserved hour will be deducted.
6. Swiss Language Group SA cannot be held liable for any theft occurring on its premises.
7. Swiss Language Group SA reserves the right to exclude, without compensation, any student who fails to comply with basic standards of conduct or disrupts classes.
8. Swiss Language Group SA reserves the right to close its premises during school holidays and public holidays, particularly during the end-of-year holiday period. Such closure will not be considered a period of absence. In the event of renovation, relocation or major construction work, the premises may be closed for a longer period, in which case the contract will be extended by an equivalent period.
9. Swiss Language Group SA reserves the right to modify course schedules and dates at any time in order to meet students’ needs.
10. Swiss Language Group SA may unilaterally amend these General Terms and Conditions. The most recent version, available from the administration of your centre, shall prevail.
